Location
The Old Stables at Kipscombe is located in a private, tranquil setting, surrounded by rolling countryside.
We have 3 acres of our own land made up of private garden, enclosed orchard, manege, and sloping woodland leading to our gently babbling brook in the valley. This is perfect for cooling off on a warm day and a tranquil space for tree bathing and quiet contemplation. Think of it as our woodland spa experience!
We are also just a stroll away from the North Devon Secure Dog Walking Field, a fabulous resource right on our doorstep
We also have an all-weather manège with some agility equipment. This is a great training area, so if you book some training it might well take place here. This space can also be booked for your own use (no charge). The most popular area, particularly for dog owners, is the gently sloping, half acre orchard at the rear of the cottage. We keep the grass natural here to encourage wildlife, but mow paths through it for easy walking. This land is well drained and tends not to get muddy in wet weather.
The nearest village is Bratton Fleming which is approximately 2 miles away and has a well-stocked village shop, post office and an occasional pop-up pub. There is currently a weekly fish and chip van on Friday evening and wood-fired pizzas on a Wednesday evening, which we can pick up for you with prior notice.
The nearest pub is the highly acclaimed Black Venus in Challacombe (1.6 miles) which is dog friendly and serves delicious food. There is also The Old Station House Inn at Blackmoor Gate (2.6 miles), another dog-friendly pub serving good food.
Barnstaple and South Molton are both about 20 minutes by car and offer a wider range of shopping opportunities.
Exmoor National Park is on our doorstep (1.2 miles) and offers miles and miles of beautiful walks, wildlife and unspoilt habitats.
Other great walking spots locally are Wistlandpound Reservoir and Arlington Court, both of which have a great selection of paths and tracks for you to explore.
The North Devon coast can be easily reached, with Combe Martin and Lynmouth about 7 miles to our north, and dog friendly Woolacombe Beach, widely recognised as one of the best beaches in the UK, just 18 miles to the west (highly recommended).
